A Rare Piece of Club History

The club was contacted recently by a relative of one of our founding members Frederick W Seekamp. She noticed this article in the Moreland Leader about the Coburg Harriers and was compelled to contact us. It turns out the elderly lady had also attended the club's 100 year anniversary dinner in 1996

We took photos of a Whiskey Decanter boxed set given to Frederick Seekamp in 24/01/1901 by Coburg Harriers on his departure for the Boer War as a member of the Australian Light Horse. The 2 handles at the side are supposedly to attach to a horse’s saddle. The set is in pristine condition so we don’t think that he took it with him overseas. It is authentic and a wonderful piece of club history. With thanks to Bernie Goggin for his fantastic investigative work
