2009 Australian Masters Games
Landy Field, Geelong
21 - 22 February 2009

The Coburg Harriers had two athletes involved in the 2009 Australian Masters Games, both walking away with gold medals

In the 8 km cross country event 2008 Victorian Marathon team representative Stacey van Dueren finished first in the women's 50-54 age category and was second female overall. Crossing the line more than five minutes ahead of her nearest competitior, this is an encouraging performance from van Dueren which should see her in good stead for the forthcoming Athletics Victoria XCR09 winter season

In a very busy weekend, Tim Erickson - 1976 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist - competed across a number of Walk events in the male 55-59 age category. A great result first up with Erickson winning the gold medal in the 10 km road walk. Erickson's time was fourth overall, and in the process established a club age group record for this distance

The 1500 m race walk was keenly contested, with Erickson securing the silver medal in a time that was just outside his own club age group record. However in the 5000 m race walk, Erickson turned the tables on his 1500 m opponent to comfortably take the gold medal in the longer event. Like his earlier gold medal performance, Erickson's time eastablishes the age group record in this event

Congratulations to Stacey and Tim on their efforts with three gold medals and a silver between them
