Australian Half Marathon Championships
Melbourne
Sunday, 12 October 2008

Congratulations to Coburg Harrier Stacey van Dueren who earned selection in the Victorian team that contested the Australian Half Marathon Championships last Sunday 12 October 2008. The highlight of her career to date, Van Dueren ranks this representative honour even higher than her individual third placing at the 2006 Melbourne Marathon

In mild conditions, Stacey recorded 82:58 to finish in 11th place overall and secure Victoria the gold medal in the team's event. And Stacey recorded a nine second negative split, which was remarkable given how warm it was getting as the race wore on

Well clear of her nearest competitor in her age group, van Dueren also won the Female 50-54 category and her time will likely put Stacey in the World Rankings for her age group in this event. If that occurs, it will be for the third year in a row, albeit for different events with the last two being the Marathon (2006) and 5,000 metres (2007), that Stacey has featured in the World Masters Rankings

Well done Stacey on your performance and for helping Victoria win the gold medal
