Run Melbourne Half Marathon
Sunday, 22 June 2008

Congraulations to club member Stacey Van Dueren who won the women's section of the Run Melbourne Half Marathon in cold and wet conditions through the Melbounr CBD last Sunday morning, 22 June 2008

In a field of 2,550 Half Marathon runners, Van Dueren was 60th overall, and showed she is coming back into some good form by yet again negative splitting her race by following up a 43:00 first lap with 42:37 to finish in 1:25.37. This negative split is typical of Van Dueren's racing when at her peak and is a great sign heading toward the Athletics Victoria half marathon at Burnley in early September

Some ninety seconds ahead of her nearest female competitor, this is Van Dueren's best result since recording third place at the 2006 Melbourne Marathon. And those who have been around the club for some time will be interested to know that the second placed male was former club member and recordholder Allan Failla

In the 10 kilometre event, club member Ken Souyave recorded an impressive 40:46 to finish third in the 50 to 59 age group and 88th overall.
