Schools Knockout Meeting Aberfeldie - 14 August, 2007Competing for Melbourne High School was talented middle distance runner and Coburg Harrier Luke Langley.
First up for Langley was the 800 metres, where he recorded 2:12.30 to secure third place. In a tough race, Langley had two very talented athletes break 2 minutes in front of him, while he ran out on his own - his nearest opponent being ten seconds behind him. This is an encouraging sign heading into October's first AV Shield track & field meet for the 2007/08 summer season. Significantly, this time would have placed Langley as fourth fastest last summer season.
Next up was the 3,000 metres. Another great result here with Langley not far off least seasons form to run 10:07.80 and come home in second place. With regular training under the belt Langley will soon be in the 9:45 form he was in last season. That time would place him in the top three at the club last season.
And in a surprise appearance, Luke then competed in the Discus where he acquitted himself very well. Langley has never thrown the discus for the Harriers, but we certainly look forward to seeing one in his hand this coming summer season, with 15.39 metres.
